Instrumentation Programmer

RMX is leading the way in innovative materials processing technologies designed to reduce manufacturing costs, increase performance or produce results not previously possible.  We are strictly looking for a highly motivated, bright individual with industrial programing and data acquisition experience to fill a full-time position in Knoxville, TN.  This position could be filled by a programmer, engineer or technician with appropriate experience.  Due to export control restrictions of our work, U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residence (green card holder) is required.

What you will do:

  • Develop control system code for industrial PLCs
  • Interface with a variety of National Instruments hardware equipment for control, feedback, data logging, and data analysis
  • Work closely with the experimental research and development teams to optimize user interfaces
  • Update/troubleshoot existing code as needed
  • Provide input for future direction of prototypes and processes

The skills we require:

  • Self-motivated, highly driven individual that can work alone or in a team
  • Flexibility, adaptation, and the desire to achieve
  • Experience in LabVIEW code writing
  • Experience with ladder logic, Allen Bradley, Rockwell or Siemens PLCs
  • Experience with standard SCADA networks and components
  • Good understanding of best practices in graphical coding and user interfaces
  • Some experience in typical DAQ wiring and interconnections

The skills we prefer:

  • Experience in general DAQ issues and best practices
  • Ability to wire and solder a variety of DAQ connections
  • Understanding of standard DAQ communication methods (MODBUS, ASCII, RS232, etc.)

Power Electronics Engineer

RMX is leading the way in innovative materials processing technologies designed to reduce manufacturing costs, increase performance or produce results not previously possible. We are strictly looking for a highly motivated, bright individual in the power electronics engineering field to fill a full-time opening in Knoxville, TN. The main focus of this position is in taking existing power supplies and loads and designing a complete power delivery system. Due to export control restrictions of our work, U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residence (green card holder) is required.  We expect to make a hiring decision in the March-April 2017 timeframe.

What you will do:

  • Design, fabricate and assemble power components and impedance matching equipment for a variety of plasma-related applications
  • Design control panels and generate wiring schematics for various types of custom hardware which meet NEC and/or NRTL guidelines
  • Design electrical components for custom research equipment
  • Participate in and/or lead experimental research teams in exciting new materials processing applications.
  • Work closely with the experimental research and development teams to conduct experiments
  • Provide input for future direction of prototypes and processes

The skills we require:

  • Self-motivated, highly driven individual that can work alone or in a team
  • Flexibility, adaptation, and the desire to achieve
  • Experience in high voltage power electronics engineering design (power components, impedance matching, load design)
  • B.S. with 2-5 years’ experience or M.S. with 1-2 years’ experience

The skills we prefer:

  • Experience in and ability to design, fabrication, and assembly of power distribution systems in both small and large custom equipment
  • Ability to wire and solder electronic assemblies
  • Experience in power distribution and impedance matching for plasma power systems

Plasma Engineer

We are looking for a highly motivated, bright individual in the plasma engineering field to fill a full-time opening in Knoxville, TN.  Due to export control restrictions of our work, U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residence (green card holder) is required.  We expect to make a hiring decision in the March-April 2017 timeframe.

What you will do:

  • Design, fabricate and assemble custom atmospheric pressure plasma generation systems specific to an application
  • Design and implement impedance matching circuits between existing power supplies and plasma loads
  • Operate and test complete plasma processing systems
  • Participate in and/or lead experimental research teams in exciting new materials processing applications.
  • Work closely with the experimental research and development teams on equipment improvement
  • Provide input for future direction of prototypes and processes

The skills we require:

  • In depth knowledge in atmospheric pressure plasma physics and engineering
  • Self-motivated, highly driven individual that can work alone or in a team
  • Flexibility, adaptation, and the desire to achieve
  • Experience in all aspects of high voltage power electronics engineering design (power supply, impedance matching, plasma load design)
  • M.S. with 3-5 years’ experience

The skills we prefer:

  • Experience in both inductive- and capacitive-coupling plasma generation designs
  • Knowledge of plasma chemistry and its impact on performance
  • Experience in modeling of plasma physics
  • Experience in designs ranging from DC to microwave type excitation methods
  • Experience in DoE (Design of Experiments)
  • PhD with 1-2 years’ experience

 

Electrical Technician

What you will do:

  • Install, maintain, repair and operate electronic components and equipment
  • Measure and diagnose equipment for proper function
  • Troubleshoot devices
  • Replace old equipment and install new equipment

  • Deductive Reasoning: Electrical technicians need to be able to look for problems in complicated electrical systems, isolate the issue and solve it.
  • Logic: Electrical techs need to be able to look at electrical blueprints and scan them for issues, making sure that they work before installed.
  • Manual Dexterity: Working with wires, using hand tools and handling small components requires manual dexterity.
  • Math: Math is needed to analyze and create schematics.
  • Observation: Electrical technicians need to be able to look at electrical systems and evaluate them for any problems, to make sure they are being installed correctly.
  • Problem-Solving: Electrical techs need to be able to identify issues and make corrective measures to fix problems with electrical components.

What you will do:

  • Help create and build mechanical and pneumatic devices based on reading schematics, inspect for problems, replace old equipment and install and operate new equipment
  • Fabricate and install custom pieces for use in mechanical systems
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical and pneumatic systems
  • Assist in operation of process equipment for research and development
